MIRI: Voters should reject opposition parties led by West Malaysian leaders who consistently look down on Sarawakians, said Assistant Minister of Communication Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

The incumbent Senadin assemblyman said the leaders of these opposition parties from the peninsula demonstrated a superiority complex and would run down Sarawakians.

“We should reject their superiority complex of looking down and talking down to us, as their interest is strictly political — never the interest and welfare of the people, sowing disunity and casting aspersions on us Sarawakians,” he told The Borneo Post in a phone interview yesterday.

He cited how opposition leaders from Peninsular Malaysia had made insulting and uncivilised accusations, including calling Sarawak United People’s Party’s (SUPP) leaders orang-utans.

Lee pointed out that the opposition could only make empty promises and play on political rhetoric instead of focusing on relevant issues such as upholding the interests and progress of the people in Senadin and Sarawak as a whole.

We cannot believe their empty sweet promises and rhetoric, which are all from the opposition leaders from West Malaysia. There’s never any clear plan for the people from the candidate,” he said, adding only Barisan Nasional (BN) has a clear road map and a proven track record.

He urged voters to give BN the chance to continue working for them.

I would like to appeal to voters to make a wise choice and look at the record of performance and achievements for the people of Senadin and look forward to a fresh mandate to serve you all in the coming term,” he added.

Lee is contesting in a straight fight against Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) Dr Michael Teo.
