To whom do you think the latest speech of His Majesty The Sultan Of Johore is addressed? To the weirdos who think they have "better" understanding on the "law of the land". Lest they forget this land is called The Malayan Federation of Malay States prior to being known as Malaysia today.
Ouchhh , this is really embarassing.
Read on , excerp from STAR
JOHOR BARU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, said the Federal Constitution was not written without thought and it must not be amended just to favour certain parties.
“If it is amended, the Constitution will not be meaningful and it might turn out to be just another piece of paper,” he said when opening a seminar on the Malaysian Constitution here yesterday.
Without naming names, the Ruler said a certain party was lately getting excited fighting for a particular community and questioning the rights of the Malays in the Constitution.
Describing them as “cetek akal (shallow-minded)”, the Sultan said they talked without considering the history behind the Constitution.
“Such actions will disrupt race relations in the country,” he said, adding that the privileges bestowed upon the Malays did not usurp the rights of other races.
Royal VIP: Sultan Ibrahim arriving to open the seminar on the Malaysian Constitution in Johor Baru yesterday. With him is Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman (left).
“In fact, other races are also accorded rights in the Constitution,” he said, advising the people to learn from May 13, 1969.
“Therefore, we must act in moderation and co-operate with each other if we want to prosper in a country with diverse races,” he said.
Sultan Ibrahim advised the people to not question or debate the powers of the Rulers, adding that the Constitution must not be interpreted according to one’s whims and personal interests.
He also advised the judiciary to reject cases sensitive to royalty and those deemed unsuitable to be tried in court.
He said it was better for the judiciary and the courts to not entertain such cases as there were bound to be parties not satisfied with the outcome.
On state-federal relations, the Sultan said the Malay rulers had sacrificed some of their powers in the formation of an independent federal government.
“Without the states, there is no federal government. Thus, the federal government must be mindful of what the states wish to implement,” he added.
For instance, he said, although foreign affairs were under the purview of the federal government, any agreement involving state land or interest must be referred to the Ruler of that particular state.
And maybe the one group who wants to "amend" the Constitution forget that the 7 wills of The Malay Sultans forgo many privelege of indegenious people of Malaya on the eve of Independence 1957. The excerp is shown below-
